Art2Life Interview

Updated: Nov 22, 2025

"What became obvious during this interview was that David Mankin is not only an extraordinary artist. The generosity, eloquence, and enthusiasm with which he talks about his work - and shares SO much about his creative process - are as warm and engaging as the paintings he creates to celebrate his love of the Cornish landscape. Just as his passion for the landscape extends well beyond the canvas - David’s passion for his art extends well beyond the screen to delight the viewer with his creative magic!"

I was recently interviewed by Caroline Millar, Artist and head of coaching at Art2Life, a pioneering arts organisation based in California renowned for its Creative Visionary programme (CVP) and the Art2Life Academy which has helped thousands of artists across the globe develop their art practice and find their voice. Headed up by Nicholas Wilton artist, global art mentor and coach. The hour long interview with Caroline explores my inspirations, my work and takes an in-depth look at the process I go through to create my abstract landscape paintings. Shot in my Cornish studio and along the coastal paths I walk daily. I hope you enjoy watching.

"Such an inspiring interview! Loved it and grateful to Caroline Millar

Art2Life interviews often focus on helping artists unlock creativity, build confidence, and develop a stronger artistic voice. The conversation usually explores topics like intuition, mindset, and the importance of consistent creative practice. Artists share how they overcome blocks and stay inspired by trusting the process rather than focusing only on outcomes. These discussions encourage a deeper connection to personal expression and artistic freedom. Much like designing a Kemono Fursuit, the creative journey requires imagination, experimentation, and attention to detail, turning ideas into expressive and meaningful visual stories.
