Thresholds 2020

Thresholds took place between 5th September and 3rd October 2020. The work in the exhibition explored liminality. The transitional space where the sea meets the land. A threshold forever moving, changing, shifting. Although the visual perspective constantly shifts within his canvas from the sea shore to a horizon line, the pattern of lichen on a rock to an aerial view of the coastline, the paintings capture an experiential truth. His abstract techniques allow this to come through, precisely because the dramatic and rebellious Cornish landscape refuses to be confined in representational work. This feeling and essence of the landscape transitioning is in every brushmark hitting the canvas, this combined with the undeniable beauty of the work is perhaps why so many people have related to and fallen in love with his paintings.
